Need help choosing CPU cooler

TheIcedCanadian

I am looking to buy a cooler for my i5 4690k. I am going for a quiet build. I was looking to buy either the Noctua NH-D15 or the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3. I was wondering what you guys though was the best/the quietest. I have looked at multiple review (including Linus') and both coolers look great. I just need a final decision before I buy one.

Like you said, in terms of performance both are really good and pretty much identical. It comes down to aesthetics and price. Go with the one that matches your build better/is cheaper.

Personally I have nothing against the Noctua colors so I'm going with that.

Note: Noctua's mounting system is very easy to use!

Probably going to get the noctua then - here is the rest of my build: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/JMh3jX

Oh now I see that you're getting the Silent Base 800. It would be nice to get the Dark Rock Pro 3 though, since the case is also form Be Quiet and it's black.

Another suggestion if I may: instead of getting almost 120 AUD worth of Noctua fans (the case comes with three high quality Be Quiet Silent Wings 2 fans = more than enough) put that cash towards getting a 80+ Gold Fully modular EVGA PSU and for 11 bucks more you can have some nicer looking Kingston RAM.

PSU: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20750xr (a fully modular PSU will all you to nicely hide all your cables)

RAM: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-memory-hx318c10fbk28

Both of these components are widely regarded as very good in terms of performance and price-to-performance on this forum.
