Need help choosing a gaming headset and amp.

I recently did a massdrop for the Modmic 4.0 and while I haven't gotten mine yet.  I have heard from the ones who have got them, that they sound nothing like what Linus shows in his videos.  I am hoping that mine doesn't sound bad but I can't help but feel that the modmic is unjustly overhyped just like the HyperX Clouds.
