Mineral Oil Raspberry Pi

Hello!

So after I saw Linus and Luke build the mineral oil pc, I just really wanted to try something...similar myself

I've decided to try to make a mineral oil cooled Raspberry Pi :D. I don't really have too much plans for it (in fact, I've ordered it off Amazon right now) but I'm just thinking of finding a small aquarium and put it there.. So I would really like to ask for some help from you guys. What should I do? What do I need to look out for? What problem s are gonna be there? Just anything & everything really. :D

And if this just wouldn't work out for some reason, maybe some other suggestions that would just make this thing look cool. I just wanna build it to impress my teacher, friends & because it would be a really fun little project ofc ;)

Thanks for the feedback!!

the oil may mess with the pins in the connectors not giving you a copper to copper contact...

just watch for oil wicking up the cables. I would do this if it needed cooling other than passive.

I think I'm gonna have to make it pretty portable as well, because we're probably gonna have to bring our Pi's to school next year when we start programing..

Seems like a not so good idea.. but do whatever make you happy. And your expertise may be much higher than mine.

i really would not recommend this because of many reasons there is rubber and plastic on the pi that will decompose and i know is just a fun project and all but there is really no point in making this the pi does not need any sort of cooling as it is and this is just messy

sorry to let you down or anything but its not worth the effort since mineral oils expencive and you get no benefits out of it

not a bad idea I remember as a kid when I lived in florida we got an aquarium that was no bigger than a lunchbox  it was made for hermit crabs or small fish.. that'd be damn near perfect for this with minor adjustments

Its good only to play around with not for actually everyday use. Mineral oil is quite messy and it eats away at rubber cables and such
