Get an i5 and a cheap mobo for upgrade. AMD CPUs are not really that good in terms of game performance

no

I'd rather get a locked i5 + H81 board for gaming then an 8320 + that Asus board. Not only does an i5 (even an i3) provide more performance in gaming then an FX, that Asus board really doesn't have the VRMs to make me comfortable with running such a high TDP CPU on that board, unless you get the 8320E.

Did you even read the OP? He's upgrading the mobo as well.

On that board due to the lackluster VRMs of mATX AM3+ boards you'll want to get the 8320E. You'll also want an aftermarket cooler at least as decent as this one, because the stock FX coolers sound like hair dryers under load.

mATX and FX processors don't mix.  These are high TDP processors that require excellent power(high end motherboard) to properly run at stock speeds, and to overclock.  Also, an FX8, no matter how highly overclocked will bottleneck a 970.

Your best option is to go for a locked i5.

these guys are correct OP, The FX-8320 is not a good chip for gaming and a locked core i5 is a much better choice that won't limit the performance of your GTX 970..

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-fx-8370e-cpu,3929-7.html
To put it nicely, the FX-8370 is a true middle-of-the-road CPU. Using it only makes sense as long as the graphics card you choose comes from a similar performance segment.
Depending on the game in question, AMD’s new processor has the potential to keep you happy around the AMD Radeon R9 270X/285 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 or 660 Ti level.
A higher- or even high-end graphics card doesn’t make sense, as pairing it with AMD's FX-8370 simply limits the card's potential.

Look, if your gaming or doing basic stuff which is mostly single threaded get Intel, if your doing heavy threaded stuff get AMD they add up to the same price. And there are only good ATX AM3+ boards. Which is why i returned my FX 6300 even though it was hella cheap because i do a lot of basic stuff, and free steam gaming, and i wanted a itx build.

Remember a wise man once said, "You'll most likely hear/see more bad reviews from products than good, because if they get a good product, they won't bother to write a review, and if they got a bad product, they'll complain about the product" ~ SoftenButterCream

Go with whatever, I don't think you'll bottleneck that GTX with an 8 core, but the performance might be less than some newer 4th Gen i3s'. Regardless I think you should just go with what you feel would make you happy. Even though it may be slightly impacted, knowing you chose something because you wanted to chose it makes it more rewarding for a build.

yes but the motherboard he choosed is not meant to support such a cpu it will blow up the vrm and kill the cpu...that wont feel very rewarding..
