What should I upgrade?

Up until now, I've been able to run games at an ideal frame-rate and settings, but now with all the new games coming out, I feel my PC is not going to be able to run them. I know that my CPU is good enough for the games and I know that it's not going to bottleneck any GPU, RAM is enough, but I'm not so sure about the Mother Board and I know that my GPU is weak and outdated. I want to be sure on what to upgrade, or if I should just get e new PC altogether. I think that the only thing that I need to upgrade is the GPU, the one I'd like to get is the GTX 970 but here where I live it's very expensive, another GPU I like is the R9 290, it seems to be a great bank-for-the-buck GPU.

Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 - 3570 (3.4 GHz)

GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 650 1GB GDDR5(Direct CU)

RAM: 8 GB DDR3

Mother Board: Asus P8 B75-M LX Plus ( http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8B75M_LX_PLUS/ )

PSU: 500W

If you can help me, then please do so.

Thank you!

Yup just get a new GPU, a 650 is pretty weak, perhaps a 970 if you can afford it, if not what is your budget

What is your budget? I would recommend a R9 270x if you're gaming on 1080p monitor or GTX 970 for 4k.

A single 270x is not enough for max 1080p and neither is a 970 good enough for 4k.. 1440p maybe

I would recommend the Gigabyte G1 cooler if you're going for the 970, and the Sapphire Tri-X for the R9 290. Personally I would go for the 970. Upgrade the MOBO in the future, if you upgrade your CPU. PSU is cutting it close but i THINK it should be fine.

If you do plan on getting the r9 290, I would suggest a better PSU then the one you have at the moment...(I am assuming this is a prebuilt system with an OEM PSU)

Otherwise I would definitely recommend the 970 (Still recommend a better PSU if it is OEM)

The motherboard is fine...

no, you need a GTX 970 to max out (nearly maxout) the most demanding modern games and upcoming games at 1080p 60FPS...a GTX 970 is not nearly powerful enough to run any games higher than medium settings at 4K...so i would recommend two GTX980's for 4k and even then some games will run only on high 60PFS...a R9 270X is weak and does not offer enough VRAM to run the latest games on highest settings at 1080p

Yup, I know, the PSU is poop and I'll have to upgrade it in the future but for now it'll do, hopefully.

Thanks for helping.

Even my HD 6850 with 1gb vram can play moderately demanding games of recent years and current gen at 1080p high, i see nothing wrong with a r9 270x then which is almost thrice as powerful as my gpu.

not everybody enjoy 30FPs and low anti-alising...many PC gamers actualy build these machines to run the most demanding games on ultra settings at 1080p with a minimum of 60FPS and high anti-aliasing...do that on the GPU's you are talking about and you'd be bellow 20FPS in many AAA titles...i think you just havent experienced anything better and chances are you are not monitoring your framerates and you won't noticed how low they are and i would suggest you keep it like that cause when you taste that, it's hard to ever go back and it can be costly...

a GTX 970 has you covered for a while...it's great bang for the buck and your system will run it as is.

my 270x can handle 1080p fine on most ga,es at high-ultra.

but yeah, if you got the budget then go for the 970 ( or 980 if you can!)
