your PC is balanced, it's all old and it's not worth putting money into it, you should try to sell it as a webbrowsing machine for 70$ and start a new build from scratch...sry!

EDIT: well...okay, you could always try to find a phenom II X4 or X6 CPU for a good price and upgrade the GPU to a better one (R7 260X or R9 270 maybe, or used HD6870, HD6950, HD7770, GTX 660)...6GB of RAM is okay for gaming...you'd need a better CPU and a better GPU...

what powersupply is in this bad boy?

and what motherboard do you have?

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |

I agree with the folks here. Your build is super out dated. There is no point in throwing more money into is. Either save for a while or sell what you have and start from scratch. You can build reasonably priced system that will blow your current one out of the water. I remember building my 2500k rig and seeing your components. They were old then, certainly outdated by now.

CPU: i7-4770k @ 4.5GHz 1.2vCore     GPU: EVGA GTX 780 @ 1202/1762     RAM: Corsair Vengeance @ 2133MHz (11-11-11-27)     MOBO: Asus Z-87 PRO     PSU: Corsair AX860     SSD: 2x256GB Samsung 840 PRO     HDD: 1TB WD Black     CASE: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2

chances are the graphics card is the limiting factor in regards to gaming, what games does he play and what resolution? 1080p?

How much would a phenom X4 955 or similar would cost you on the used market?

Yes he has a 42 inch led tv @ 1080p60 and yes the settings could be scaled back to where they are more playable, but can anyone tell me where the bottle necks are in my system? i know it is outdated i just want it to be the best it can be for sentimental reasons ( My grandfather bought this for me about 3 days for he died, and made me promise I would take VERY good care of it )

it's hard to tell really those parts as i've mentionned are balanced well with each other...if you go with a better GPU you'd be held back from the CPU, and the other way around would give the same results, you'd have to upgrade both to get noticeably better performance across the board...how much would a phenom X4 955 or similar CPU would cost you on the used market and what about a HD6870 or R9 260X GPU would cost you? is it within price range?

I think he has an Original Phenom not a Phenom II.

right so it's socket AM2+ and the phenom II are AM3...is there a worthy upgrade on the AM2+ socket that they could look for priller?

Would need to know what motherboard he has. Some AM3 white socket boards will support AM3+ CPUs with a Bios update. Some of the older boards are the same way.
