IF YOU HAD 600$ CAD, WHAT WOULD YOU DO.

OnekillWalter

Good evening ladies and gents,

I will upgrade my rig this winter and i'd like your opinion. What would get for 600$ CAD worth of upgrade. Take note that the mobo/cpu and ssd were purchased  08/28/2014.

I made a few wish list on newegg, but I still have a few doubt if I'm getting the best bang for my bucks. I was think about the gpu, an aftermarket cooler, a 1080p monitor, or ram?

go crazy, let your imagination leads you.

edit: I forgot to mention I only use this machine for gaming and web browsing.

my rig:

  • CPU
    AMD Fx-6300 OC 3.88GHZ (08/28/2014)
  • Motherboard
    AsRock 970 Extreme 3 (08/28/2014)
  • RAM

  • Case
    Cooler Master Elite 430 Black
  • Storage

You shouldn't dish out the money for a SSD on a $600 budget, better processor is what I recommend.

Gtx 970, i5-4690k(wait for sale) + whatever motherboard you can afford with the money left over.

It would be better if you can get something better, CX isn't the best PSU to get. A B series PSU would be better to get if you had a low budget for a PSU.

HHaha I could see that, us good BC boys are similar in a lot of ways even though we only grew up in the same general area.

Well, if he wanted to have full modularness then yes. Otherwise, I don't see why, with his current build, to spend any more on a PSU.

Just my opinion but I can see where you're coming from.

CX series are semi-modular - plenty unless you absolutely need the clean looks. Chances are,

... sh*t he's using a CM Elite 430. Get a fully modular PSU my friend. That side panel window will show all of your cable management. Try an EVGA Supernova NEX.

Yeah, I was typing in the middle and realized he had a HUGE side panel window (on his case) - fully modularness is of much importance.

I do my best to make it look good...installed 2 corair 120mm on top and a 140mm in front with blue led. and the original 120mm blue led is in the side panel blowing the GPU. I guess I like blue.

I also did my best to manage the cable and snuck everything on the sides and behind the side panel, but indeed that non-modular PSU is hard to manage.

It look decent, considering.
