Good build?

LocoVenom

Build looks solid, I see no problems, although some other people with more experience might.

Get a cheaper cooler like the Hyper 212 EVO, a cheaper HDD like the WD Blue and a better GPU like the GTX 970.

Add an SSD later.

I've made some changes: GPU, and CPU cooler. Also added a 128GB  SSD

WAT I had no idea! And people have recommended them to me before, luckily I haven't bought any

Hello everybody,

We've all seen it float around the forum: "Is G2A a good site to buy windows from?" It's a fair question because they sell windows 8.1 versions (full, not some trial thing) at too good to be true low prices. This is where it starts though, it is literally too good to be true.

G2A keys are this cheap because of 2 reasons. The first is because these keys are not sold by G2A itself but the marketplace. The second is because they are keys that were sold to students (usually) and are MSDN keys. MSDN keys are not meant for resale and are usually only good for 1-2 years as opposed to forever when you buy it from windows.

A kind soul from tomshardware (Darkbreeze, http://www.tomshardw...legitimate.html) asked windows and got an answer from the piracy prevention team saying that G2A  IS NOT licensed to sell windows keys.

In short, G2A is not allowed to sell keys and the keys they are selling are not even for resale. My advice is just pay for the proper windows so you do not risk anything and so that you do not have to go through the potential hassle that is "Key invalid"  the hassle that is slow refunding when the key does not work.

This took forever to find...

You might want to see this video.

There is an argument to be made for upgrading to the $100 dollar more expensive 4790k. It has hyperthreading and doesn't drop frames due to background processes. Whereas the 4690k does. Look at the video at 5:00 minutes if you don't want to watch it all.

In reality the point is that the keys won't last long. After a year or so they expire, but I see people getting 8.1 off G2A to use in the meantime until Windows 10 comes and they buy the legit copy, since it's unclear right now whether 8.1 users will be getting a free upgrade to 10.

One other thing. I notice no one has touched the RAM. Why not use an 8 GB stick? The price is comparable and it leaves much room for upgrading in the future.

For the same price here is another hyper x clocked higher. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104458

In an 8GB 1 stick format.

I know I wouldn't want two 4 GB sticks taking up room when z97 only has 4 RAM slots.

Because you only get dual channel mode with 2 or 4 sticks.

Oh.

I looked that up but didn't really understand it just now.

So it'd be better to buy in pairs than in singles? Two 8 GB sticks...

Yes. If you want dual channel mode on Z97 you either have 2 or 4 sticks.

Also buying single sticks can sometimes cause issues even with the same brand/speed of ram. If you buy a 2 x 4GB or 2x8GB set etc then they are guaranteed to work together.
