OC AMD 8320 thread to 4.0 or 4.2 (again)

Hello,

I have been readig guides and watching videos on youtube for a few days now and still unsure of how to go about this. Just to recap-

AMD 8320

ASUS Sabertooth 990x r2

Corsair H60

G Skill 8GB

Fractal Define R4 with 6 140mm fans

Antec 750w PSU

XFX R9 280x GPU

NOT bragging about my hardware!!! Got flammed for that on another board when asking this question... I wanna play Lords of the Fallen on good setting next week and the reccomended settings calls for a 8350... WITHOUT adjusting voltages and watts and tweaking stuff I do not understand and fear will break my PC, whats the simple method to get my 8320 to 4.0 or 4.2 comfortably?

I read

turn off the AMD Turbo and "cool and quiet" in BIOS.

set multiplier to 20 or 22.5

boot up windows and run Prime 95 for 20 minutes. then check temps on CPU with CPU-Z

Many threads say its super easy to get teh 8320 to 8350 status. The built in Turbo feature is automatic but its in short bursts... I am looking for the least amount of head aches and adjustments in BIOS to get my CPU to 4.0 steady. Or 4.2 if possible. nothing more, no need for the games I play these days. Thanks in advance

idk what board you were on but you would have to have a pretty baller system to "brag" about it here. There are a large number of people here with high end setups.

That seems fine. You should generally be shooting for 4.2ghz+ but it's quite easy to just go for 4.2ghz and not worry about voltages.

Minecraft forums ;)

Anyway OP as you've noted just set multi to 21x and disable turbo core. Leave anything else alone.

Thank you Sir. And Playground Accesory as well for the direct answer I am looking for. Wish me luck Im kinda nervous about doing this but it seems cheaper then to buy a new CPU where I don't have to touch a thing! Wish me luck! I'll mark this thread as answered once I get home today and try it out.

you guys are much nicer then other places I posted on <3
