whats the difference (both performance wise and overall) between the cooler master hyper 212 evo and hyper 212 x?? please help!

I don't think there's a huge difference, but I think the Hyper 212 EVO is the better option - the Hyper 212X is an older model, so it might not have some of the features the EVO has.

You are correct, the 212x is the newest.

I doubt there is much difference in actual performance. I'm sure the 212x is slightly better being newer, but the overall design hasnt changed much.

I think the only major difference is a different fan. The fan looks to have the same CFM, same noise volume, quadruple the life, higher running wattage, and (for some reason) a lower static pressure. (Going by their website)

Not sure how these affect temperatures, but I'm sure it doesn't matter. I'd say if the 212 EVO is reasonably cheaper, you should go with that. Otherwise, at the same price, or if you just want newer stuff, get the 212x.
