Why all the hate on the MOTO G/X camera?

So the MOTO G and X sport a 5.0 mp camera, the moto e is like a 3.7 or something.

 

so im on vacation in palm springs atm and i just got my moto g like 2 weeks ago. So this trip i have been taking some pictures!

 

to start off i wanna say that the camera is actually awesome, it even has HDR!!! (HDR takes 3 pictures, one over exposed one under exposed and one normal and combines them all).

 

These two are just some nice shots, the second is a HDR.

Yeah I have a moto G myself and im a little shocked at what a 5mp camera can do. The quality of my pictures is often better than my girlfriend 8mp samsung s3 camera. I don't understand it.

I just like Samasung's Cameras. Their baller as fuk

They are but whatever moto is doing with the software kicks ass because if I can shoot pics similair in quality as an s3 with 5mp camera. That is crazy. Hopefully I can get my hands on the 2014 edition soon for free and have a moto g with a 8mp camera.

Much better than my iphone can do....  Mind you it is 4 gens behind now.

The Moto G's camera is very hit-and-miss. I've taken good photos with my Moto G, and I've taken really bad photos with it as well. If it had a better consistency I would praise it, but most of the time I would rather use a Lumia 925 to take photos.

Its not fantastic thats why, the overall IQ dynamic range colour and noise performance are nothing spectacular compared to other smartphones

 

It still takes reasonable snaps as you have shown but nothing mind blowing
