Microphone reccomendation needed $200

Nallown

So I'm planning on getting a new microphone which I'd be able to attach to my monitor stand and it would pickup my speech but not my speakers.

I know that it wouldn't be a easy job finding these microphones exactly but there must be something like that around and I'm willing to push my budget over $200.

The idea would be to have something like a shotgun microphone on the monitor stand so as I mentioned it would pickup my speech but not exactly the sound coming from the speakers.

I remember seeing one of those noise cancelling devices which are essentially microphone which you'd have specifically pickup the sound you want it to cancel.

I'm not sure how well these would work in my situation but would something like that work out with my needs?

I'd basically want the best sound quality possible

The room setup is as following

My personal recording mic is a SHURE SM57. Its more of a directional mic doe, meaning you need to be talking into it

New PC: i7-4790k, Corsair H100iGTX, ASrock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer, 24GB Ram, 850 EVO 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080 Fractal Design R4, EVGA Supernova G2 650W

I'm really picky and good looks is very important, I don't want to exactly be staring at something like that xD

Cardioid mics will ignore sound behind it. What I used to do was get my Blue Yeti, set it to cardoid to ignore the sound my speakers gave out. Although, aren't condensers the type that like the pick up sound everywhere? Maybe a... cardioid dynamic mic would be better.

Large diagram condensers tend to pick up background noise, but pick up more detail in your voice. Dynamic microphones are the best microphones for livestreaming and youtube imo. When I livestream or record a video I use the SM7B. Also, cardoid is a just a polar pattern.

And condensor mic will pick up noise regardless of the direction, unless the cardiod layout is EXTREMELY tight.  I've got the AT-2020 and the Blue Yeti on my table right now and done tests on both.  If you want to put it on your monitor (wat), then only a shotgun or dynamic mic will work for you without picking up speaker sound (or at the least extremely minimal).

Monitor stand, not the monitor it self :P

Thanks guys some very useful info I was able to get here. I'll have a look around for mics based on the recommendations and will come back with a basket of mics I was able to find.

Still :P Any sound around and even behind will be picked up by condenser mics~

that's what I sort of expected. It's not exactly a MUST just something I would want to have as part of it since the budget is high I would of thought that there would of been some kind of solution for it.

You can take a look at this :)  He used to work on independent films and TV shows, and now hosts the WoW podcast Convert to Raid (very good show btw).  He's a through and through sound guy.
