Cherry MX reds or blues?

I ordered the Corsair K70 RGB with cherry MX blue switches off of Amazon but it will take quite a while to get to my house. This is because there is no stock for the cherry MX blue switches as of right now. However I could order the cherry MX red model and get it by tuesday. I'm used to typing on my blackwidow ultimate but I could get used to red. 

 

Basically what I'm wondering is, are the reds still easy to type on or is the claim that they're made for gamers true to the point where I can't even type well on them?

 

Thanks for any help in advance, I do really want this keyboard but I don't want to regret my purchase based on the key switches.

use blues because blues are better.

 

it is hard to type on reds and even reds are not the greatest for games

Depends on how you type, if you press keys quickly then reds will work, though you may get a few more errors

I do like the blues a lot but I'm also willing to try browns or reds.

Reds are not for gamers IMO, blacks are better for that; I feel like they are too easy to press and don't bring anything to the table .

Neither is "better". Its personal preference. Only you can tell which one is the best for you. If you can, go to a store and try them out.

 

To fight all the Red hate, I have used Reds for almost two years and have had no problems with them, gaming or typing. Recently I added some o-rings to them and they are now even better.

Okay thanks, I kind of want to try browns. The model with the brown key switches is coming sooner according to Amazon.com

browns are good, they kinda like hybrid switch but still are really nice to type on, i use mx browns and i mostly bottom out because i have heavy hands but they still are really good to prevent accidental keystrokes

Okay thanks, so far people are saying blue / brown and I don't really play that many FPS games so I guess I will keep my order for the model with the blue switches.

I use blues and like them but they are LOUD.

If you can try out keyboard at your local tech store (even if they don't have any don display you might be able to ask the store manager/employees if you can take out a packaged keyboard and try it out) then just do that otherwise, there are key switch testing kits online you can get

I have a K70 with Cherry MX reds, and I do more typing than gaming and I love typing on it.

I found Browns with O-rings to be closest to membranes (Logitech G710+).

i dont find that, i find that the furthest, i also have a g710+ so yeah

reds are linear like membrane keyboards, thus they feel the closest to membrane, i have tried reds and was appalled by how close they felt to membrane compared to cherry mx brows
