What to look for in a music production pc?

Takaprime

Pretty simple question (I think). What are some key things to look for in a PC or laptop used mainly for music production?

~Thanks~

I haven't personally used any musical composition software (yet) but I would assume the system would be using RAM and CPU power but not so much GPU power.

i5 4670k (can OC to 4.4Ghz) - Hyper 212 evo w/ AC MX2 - XFX Radeon R9 280X8GB ADATA XPG V2 DDR3-1600 - MSI Z87 G41 - Corsair CX600M 600W PSU - 1TB HDD - 120GB SSD

No need for a GPU. That's about it. Maybe, if you were to build something, buy a good sound card. Laptops from $700+ are gonna be better at producing sound. Plenty of people who make music use Apple computers.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.

My system: PCPartPicker || For Corsair support tag @Corsair Josephor @Corsair Nick || My 5MT Legacy GT Wagon ||

Good audio hardware, optical/coaxial digital out, low-noise PSU, support for midi in/out if you'll be using a midi instrument to assist you...

If you're using FL studio / logic etc honestly these are the things that I rate as musts. 1. A high resolution display, having more "space" to do your work is incredibly important. If you're getting a laptop I wouldn't recommend getting anything under 1080p, if you can afford anything higher then that's great.  2. Quality soundcard / Audio interface such as the Focusrite scarlett 2i2. 3. A decent amount of ram 6GB - 8GB's as these programs can get ram hungry. 4. The addition of an SSD always helps to give things smooth and responsive. Those are my thoughts anyway

Rig: Intel Core i5 3570k , 16GB Corsair Vengeance , Gigabyte G1. Sniper 3 , EVGA GTX780 SLI, Asus Xonar STX , Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, 1TB WD BLACK , 1TB Seagate Barracuda , 4TB Seagate Barracuda

Monitors: X-STAR 30" 2560x1440 IPS

Peripherals: Logitech G9x Mouse, Corsair K9% RGB, Logitech Z623 Speakers, V-MODA Crossfade LP2's with Boom Pro Mic.
