Applying new thermal paste

Alexkiss21

Is there anything I need to worry if I am about to do my first ever reapply of thermal paste?

I'll make photos of each cable and where it goes from the PSU.

I'll apply a pea sized amount.

I'll ground myself before starting it.

Anything else, or just tips?

@Alexkiss21

Remember to clean off the old paste...

Don't put too much...

Don't put too little...

No need to spread...

And don't get the paste onto the pins or the PCB...

50C is a bit warm... What are your ambients?

just to make sure your thermal paste got the same or higher thermal conductivity than stock intel HSF paste (intel stock HSF nowadays uses Downing TC-1996, ~3.5 W/m-K cause i didn't get any perfect datasheet about it).  50C on idle is warm btw. but it depends on your ambient temperature

May I also ask if 50°C idle temp. for a Pentium D is nice?

That's rather high. 37 to early 40s should be idle.
