My GPU idle rose from 40-42c to 55c+ what?!?

I just dont get this i have done nothing for this to happen ... why is it I have a Asus R9 280 and usually it stays below 42 on idle .. now its 55+ and its not getting any lower

Maybe reinstall drivers? + that "were" in your name should be we're.

 

If you still have warranty on it try taking it back.

Dust, clean out your pc and all the fans. Especially on the gpu. Mine raises about 10c in a full day when it needs dusting. After I dust it out it's back to normal. Happens once every few months.

I had this build for 1.5 weeks also i cleaned the dust filter a couple days ago and it had like so little dust .. the idle temps have been like this today yesterday they were fine

Thats a bit odd.

But as a little info for you the DCUII cooler was never ment for AMD cards, all they did was slap on the DCUII cooler from their Nvidia cards on them.

I would look at possble TIM replacment for the card (it will still be covered unwarrenty, as long as the cooler remains in original conidition)

Additional info: I run the fans on auto which is usually 20-30% when im not playing games if i play games i run fans at 50-75% depending on games visuals 

 

 

so now im running fans at 90% idle and im noticing the gpu temp dropping to below 48c

Every few months for you is normal i had this for under 2 weeks :/

Yes but did you actually blow dust out of the heatsink from the gpu? That's where a lot of dust collects, after a month mine is solid and needs to be cleaned. Every place is different, some have more and less dust. More humid, less humid etc. The conditions of your pc will never be the same as someone elses who lives in a different location.

Yes you need to remove the gpu, it's not that big of a hassle. I didn't use a can of air, I just used my mouth. Get your mouth dry/free of saliva. Blow really hard into the heatsink and watch the dust fly. I've cleaned it this was at least 3 times.

I will do a couple windows updates that are mostly optional and it will allow me to reset computer il do this and hopefully help me fix this problem a bit more

IT could be your room, but it sounds more like a dust issue. Two days ago my gpu was at 68c full load. Yesterday it was 79c-82c at full load. Why? Simply because of dust, I need to clean it out again. Windows updates wont do anything, but you can try it.

Does dust collect faster when your computer is off for a long time (in my case 3 days)
