Will a windows 7 key work on win8?

i heard of this somewhere, or maybe im wrong. will it work to activate it? i tried Google, i found nothing on this.

no not really, both are different products and even you do it vice versa and it still won't work, such as i tried a office 2010 key on 2013 and it didn't work.
