OBS issues

evilmeister13

I was trying to record Titanfall using OBS, but the videos come out with super low frame rates, definitely not 30 fps. I have an AMD FX 6300, l so I know video encoding probably isn't easy for it, but what settings can I change to increase performance?

Run Titanfall in windowed-mode and look that the bit-rate for OBS while you're recording. If the block goes in to the red and you start seeing frames get dumped, it's your CPU.

Buy a new CPU?

If you have an nvidia GPU you can try shadowplay with H.264

I do use shadowplay, but I was thinking of recording my gameplay using OBS while also streaming to twitch with shadowplay

wtf who would even want to watch a 5760x1080 video? Youtube doesn't even support that.

AH I see. idk if OBS has an option to change your encoder...if it does make sure its on H.264 or x.264

I know bandicam has an option to use H.264 and it basically gives no performance impact just like shadowplay :)

99% of people do not have surround monitors so uploading in that resolution will basically make your video look like crap to 99% of your audience.

It supports it sure... but it would be widescreen for 1080p not a lot of triple monitor users want to watch a video on 5760x1080 either.

yea looks bad without but its good to give people a sample of the feeling as you see the hud and can work out which is on the other monitors

Yeah no... don't do that.

My buddy has the same cpu and a 560 ti and he can record titanfall at 30fps 1080p so its not that.

Like others have said check your encoding, run titanfall in windowed mode and, try window capture instead of game capture. In my experience you have to mess with a lot of settings to get obs and titanfall to cooperate.

If you want to use OBS with your setup and if you do have an nvidia graphics card go to settings, encoding and at the top their should be three options x264, quick sync which you shound not be able to select and Nvidia NVENC <--- Select that and it will use the built in h.264 encoder on your graphics card.

i have an fx 4100 and gtx 660 and i use these settings and they work flawlessly.

And if that doesn't work and is still laggy, It is probably your HDD trying to say it cant handle it!
