HDMI through motherboard or GPU?

VG Docs

I now have another HDMI cord, should I use it through my GPU or my motherboard?

If I use it through my motherboard, will I be forced to use the iGPU in my CPU as the primary GPU, or will the iGPU only be used to show the display?

Also keep in mind my monitor is an HDTV. :P

Plug it into the GPU. iGPU probably won't work.

Always plug everything into the gpu. You will end up using the igpu if you plug into your mobo

If you're using a GPU in the system, connect all displays to the GPU.

Inter graded graphics wont work with a dedicated gpu installed. So you have only one option.

CPU: Intel I7 4790K 4.8 Ghz || Mobo: ASUS ROG Maximus Hero 6 Z87 || Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB 1600 Mhz || GPU: ASUS GTX 980 Ti STRIX || Storage: 2 x SSD Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB RAID 0 HDD Western Digital 1 TB Black || PSU: Corsair AX 860 watt || Cooling: 2 x AF 140mm (front), 2 AF120 Blue LED (bottom and back), 2 SP120 (top on radiator) ||  CPU cooler: Corsair H100i GTX || Case: Corsair obsidian 750D <3 <3 <3

Agreed my neighbor needed me to plug in an extra DVI port (only one on his GPU) and the display didn't even turn on so it won't even work.

Alright, thanks guys for your answers.

I have another question though, might as well knock out two in one thread than making another thread :P

If you have a dual-GPU setup, as well as having two monitors, then would you put one HDMI cable into one video card, and put another HDMI cable into the other? Or would one HDMI cable and one DVI to HDMI cable in only one of the two cards be viable? I hope that makes sense.

You would connect them both to one gpu and yes that would be viable.
