High temp for Evo 212 cooler?

Gametaku

Just installed the Evo 212 cooler on FX8350 stock speed. Used the thermal paste that comes with the cooler. Grain method. Did it 3-4 times but still having same temp

Ambient temp for room should 32-34? ...typical Singapore temperature according to weather forecast :x

CPU idle temp is 40-42c
Prime 95 15min heat stress is 66c
Ran Metro Last Light everything max and CPU temp is 62-65c

Is my Evo 212 doing any good to the CPU? heard others running under load at  40-50c confused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gif

65c load is a good temp especially for a 8350 on a hyper 212 evo.

But if stock speed is already 65 that mean i wont be able overclock at all. The temp will at least get hotter by 5-15c totalling to 70-80c.

Googled and read articles of others using the same combination. (about 20 users) Their temps seem to be 40-50 degree under load. :(

You have a pretty high ambient though. I was getting about 45C with my Sempron when I had it unlocked and OCd to the moon, and that was with a 19C ambient. It ended up being about 100-105 watts, if you were to rate it by a TDP.

Thanks for the reply. Based on what u said.. You OC-ed and the temp diff is only 26 degree.

If my ambient temp is 32..isnt 66c kinda high for stock speed 8350. The difference is 34 degree even without OC-ing done.

Not really. This is with a roughly 95 watt CPU (I was mistaken, I was a few watts off, my bad), and as I recall, the 8320 is 125-ish.

Yeah. Sad, isn't it? ;)

You could try to overclock it on stock voltage and see how far you get. Different scenario, but I got my Sempron unlocked to a dual-core and OC'd it to 3.6GHz on the stock 1.43? volts. Rock stable.

my bulldozer 8120 at 4.4 1.425v (LLC) with hyper 212 evo and actic cooling mx-2 (way better than that POS pre-bundled plasticine [play-doh in america]) currently peaks at 69*c with a 25*c ambient after rendering/p95.

your temps are fine but id still get some mx-2 or mx-4 (better, more expensive) or antec formula 7 (they're all equally good but mx-2 is slightly thinner..) just for the sake of it.
edit-fyi if a hyper 212 evo can cool a 8120 bulldozer 8 core overclocked to high hell while in "silent" mode in the bios.....yeah

Living in Singapore. I cant stand the heat too. Love your suggestion but 32 is the norm here. That will also mean 24/7 of air conditioning. (I know myself..once i on it...i wouldnt off it) Have to train to endure the weather. Its 36c with 100% humidity during the peak season.

remember that most test and most users in forums live in aread with 20-25C ambient room temp. If their systems are running around 35C idle, you are doing pretty good with 40C idle. Every degree in room temps means as much inside the case. So 25C -> 35C idle is same as your 30C -> 40C idle. Same goes with load temps.

So under prime95 stress test:

Socket temp: 66c

Core temp: 48c
