Really? Do you have any benchmarks to show that (I don't mean to be aggressive if that sentence comes off as aggressive)

well it depends what quality though it has a slightly more pixel density then 4k so you could base it off a 4k benchmark

high-ultra (Some AA). 4k is 8 mega pixels and 7680x1440 is 11

Hmmm I would say 2 295X2 because although quad CF scales horribly, you need the xtra Vram for that resolution. If possible go for 3 way Titan blacks (Which should cost the same as 2 295X2...)

I don't think any game is worth dropping that much money on a gaming rig for.

Don't get me wrong building PC's is my hobby as well and I understand the joy it brings, though I just don't feel the quality of games coming out deserve $3,000 - $4,000 to be spent on GPU's for them. You can get a great gaming experience for $1,000 in graphics power, I'm just getting at the fact here that modern games really aren't worth spending that much on just to play. They're very disappointing most of the time lately and that is a trend not looking to change in the near future especially with regards to the way Ubisoft is treating us gamers.

The 3 GB VRAM of the GTX 780 Tis are in danger of being consumed entirely, even if you don't max out the settings. 7680x1440 is 11.06 million pixels. That's more than a 3840x2160 (8.8M) + 1920x1080 (2.07M) combined.

The R9 295X2 in tandem will be better. However, the R9 295X2 + R9 290/290X in triple Crossfire should be better value. Too much diminishing returns on a quad Crossfire or SLI.

Check out the triple Crossfire/"tri-Fire" review here: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/05/13/amd_radeon_r9_295x2_xfx_290x_dd_trifire_review/10#.U8O5N_mSyUU

But if you have disposable income why not get the best gaming experience possible? Also that is VERY opinion based.

Well the AIO watercooler on those AMDs is not my first choice but performance wise I think, if you don't mind not to have any nVidia based features such as i.e. Physx, they will be the best for your setup.

4K... yeah 4K sounds great, but the unfortunate truth is, that we are going to see some nice displays this year but no GPU that can really deal with it when it comes to full details and max AA settings. As further as the year goes... it seems like to be coming reality that none of the desktop GPU manufacturers will bring the big revolution with the next card generation (nVidia will stick to the 28nm and thinks about skipping the 20nm for 16nm in 2015, if you want to believe the rumors). And with that being said, I think we won't see neither AMD nor nVidia coming forward with new cards much more powerful than what they've got already on the table.

I am running a single 1440p display with a GTX 780 TI and I OCed the card as far as I could (watercooled) and still... I have to admit that if I want it all, even in 1440p, the 1 GPU isn't good enough. Sure it plays all the games... but with (depending on the game itself) FPS jumps between 60 to 25 FPS.

Edit: BTW VRAM is no issue in 1440p. I never had any issues, the 3GB are fine, because of the fast memory and fast memory controller of the card ;).

No, it takes 4 titans and a 3930k at 5ghz to maintain ~45-60 fps at ultra settings.

@Op, I wouldn't recommend anything other than 3-4 290x's, or titan's.  7680x1440 uses ~4gb of vram in most titles, if not more.
