Windows repair loop?

The Last MeMe

Earlier today my friend calls me saying that his computer will not power on, literally nothing no fan spin etc... He says he's tried a different outlet, reconnecting everything in the case, and even a different power supply cable. So I head over with a few ideas. First thing I do is jump the power supply, works fine. Next I try shorting the power button connectors on the board to see if the powe button is broken. Nothing. I try a few more times and a few more things... Nothing. Finally I remove the CMOS battery and replace it and still nothing so I suggest we trying buying a new one so we do, nothing.

Finally I state I believe the board is somehow dead (board is only a year old) no idea how he hadn't had the case open for weeks so it couldn't have been ESD (although he does have the comp sitting on carpet) and there were no black mRks on the board. We go and pick up a new board and he gets ready to pull everything apart and etc... And I leave for work

Later he texts me at work an says the computer is in a continues startup repair loop. I tell him to go into the bios and make sure that it is detecting everything correctly and to make sure his only HDD is the default boot device. So he tried and then sends me a picture of what happens when he clicks the bios button and it says something like "no image file detected" and "configure" "reload" both of which do nothing. So now I literally hve no idea what to do I suggested wiping the HDD completely and reinstalling windows but I hve no idea if that will actually work or what really happened. Any suggestions would be great thanks in advance

I've had this problem before. If I remember correctly just boot it up in safe mode?

Tell him to try that and get back to you.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Alright thanks for the post

You're welcome, I had this problem a couple times. The first time I had to wait until my residential tech support (my uncle) who is a very busy engineer had time to help me. Believe me, I know the pain of this. It sucks.

you need to bread board it.  What are the full specks.  if the board has a dual bios switch this wold be a good time to try the other bios.

Just cpu psu and 1 ram stick
