Lenovo Y510P vs. Sager NP7358

StealthArsenal

For those of you who have not seen my thread in the Consumer Electronics/Mobile Devices section of the fourms I am looking for a new laptop.  In the interest of not pulling up everything from that thread, will summarize briefly.

I was looking at the Lenovo Y510p (Core i7, GT755m sli configuration).  I have since done a bit of research on the Sager laptops and have determined that the NP7358 would fit my needs perfectly.  The question I have is with respect to the quality, reliability and overall durability of the Sager units.  I have used Lenovo for a while now, so I know their quality and build.  With that said, what is everyones experience with Sager machines if any?  Are they good, or would I be better off going with the Lenovo.  I noticed that graphical performance between the two (2) units is very similar and not really all that different despite the reported 13% increase in 755m sli performance.  The sager has an additional hard drive bay and a msata port that I do like.  I would be installing an ssd into the system, so having everything internal without a harddrive caddy would be a good thing.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks

Chris

I had the Sager np 7330, with the GTX 760m and the i7-4810mq I think it was. It was a beast of a laptop and was worth the $1100 that I had spent on it. It was a THICK laptop but that's how to stayed cool. Sager notebooks have awesome build quality and you just need to take care of it.

Very interesting.  I have been browsing the internet and asking questions and it seems it is a 50/50 on either notebook.  Both seem to have excellent build quality and each have their own pros and cons (as expected).

My breakdown is as follows:

Lenovo:

- Excellent keyboard and decent track pad

- SLI GT755m which is slightly better performance

- Operating System installed

Sager

- Extra internal harddrive bay

- optical drive

- better cooling

A lot to think about.

Hello All,

Finally now getting around to finalizing the choices.

I have switched some things up a bit.  Not sure the Lenovo is a good choice after seeing both of these machines. Here is what I am looking at.

Sager NP7358 -- Addons -- 12gb ram, Blu Ray read and Intel AC 7260 Wireless - $1144 F/S

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7358-clevo-w350ss-p-6991.html

MSI GT60  -- Addons -- 12gb ram

http://www.xoticpc.com/msi-gt60-2oc022us-p-5780.html
--$1324 - $100 rebate = $1224 F/S

Either one has their pros and cons.  The nice thing about the MSI is its warranty and accidental warranty.  The Sager is fully upgradeable (more so than MSI).  Thoughts on either of those machines.  Both are similar in durability, the MSI is a mixture of Aluminum and plastic construction while the Sager is plastic.  Been talking with Xotic PC quite a bit, and seems either is a good choice.  Just trying to figure out what I didn't think of with either one.

Thanks
Chris

The 800 series for laptops has already been released, do t buy a laptop with 700 series gpu. Don't buy a laptop with a 770m but with an 870m, same price, but better
