concept: diagonal build in CM690 adv ii

hello there,

Lately i was dreaming about how i could possibly non-watercool-mod my coolermaster CM690 advanced II. So i came up with this idea. My plan was to create 2 big air channels, and mounting almost everything diagonally. So only sucking air from the front and bottom to the top and rear. Made a quick 3D sketch with google/trimble sketchup. Allmost all parts are for size reference. I would use the parts i have now, except more fans+ fancontroller. (look at my signature: home desktop gaming rig )

Please share your toughts and advices and stuff. Also, would this be "realistic" and would it improve/decrease/keep performance if using hardware specified above

notes:

1- the reference gtx770 should be an MSI twin frozr.

2- yes i know the mobo sticks out  edit: it doesn't anymore in current sketch

3- sidepanel made from darkblack acrylic and clear acrylic (so 2 kinds of it) edit: because this would be hard to realize, it would only be 1 panel of clear acrylic i guess

4- i would use a pci-e riser for the gpu... any toughts about this anyone? edit: solved

5- PM for 3D .skp files

thanks people  ;)

soooo, i made it even more custom. the front and top part would be entirely redone in aluminum/ aluminium and be sprayed over like this. I dont know if i like it more than the original, because: if you stand right in front of it, you could just see trough (see 3rd picture in spoiler)

ok guys, I did some new rendering with a 420 radiator in the top, and if you look in the right angle of 45° you can see the EK logo in orange. I also figured out reflections in 3D drawings.

Amazing build , PLEASE watercool this instead of using noctua cooler. You can make some new renders with some WC and send them to EKWB or koolance or something maybe you'll get sponsored.

ummm are you serious or what? also, my gpu is a non reference pcb (msi gaming 770 twin frozr) so a waterblock would be kind of impossible i guess. the only thing i "drew/made" was the left side panel and i deleted everything out of the case... i only downloaded the mobo, cooler, case, psu, gpu,... its just that nobody (that i know of) puts it diagonaly...

Very nice concept. The slight cant of the gpu is a little bothersome. I think it would look better if the gpu were perpendicular to the rear case wall.

thanks

I was thinking about that, but then i tought the bottom case fan would push more air over the gpu. I don't know if it is negligible. Its probably not worth the extra cost for the riser card, but then again you could say the improvement of the whole mod is negligible :D

The original plan was for having the GPU perfectly horizontal, but it wouldn't fit.

Nice. I wonder about air flow over the motherboard components and the single radiator. Is cool air coming in over the radiator then across the motherboard? Is a single radiator going to be enough for both the cpu and gpu?

i actually don't know, as i don't have to much experience with watercooling (look at my rig in signature). what would you suggest?

but yeah, i was thinking about the airflow over the mobo to, but since the air can only flow in the "airchannels" ( = between diagonal orange plates) i am hoping this would be ok.

the parts i would be using (you guys may suggest things, but it has to be a kind of affordable ;) )

You may want to post a question about radiators and parts in Water Cooling.

Really tough to make out the radiator. Perhaps you can lighten it up or something.

Sure hope I get to see this built.

I agree... maybe some leds or so... if i'm going to paint it orange, it would mess up the logo.

edit: maybe accenting the lines with thin orange line wouldn't hurt?

I really hope it to. Lets say 50% chance i will build it, Because time and money  :D

I guess i would use orange carbon wraps for the orange parts, and maybe some black or gray on other parts.

update:

played around a little with cardboard i painted in orange.

everything you see in the picture below is taped together, to see what would fit where, and if it would look good.

the motherboard also has cardboard at the back to not give any shorts.

also notice the fancy drive cooling (finally i have found a temporary use for it)
