Should I upgrade from a GTX 650 to a GTX 750 Ti?

Go to solution Solved by Sauron,

Thanks for the fast reply, but on Amazon US I can get the 860K for $40 cheaper ($75 while the 4160 is $115). Is the 4160 still worth it? I'm a little tight on cash.

It's worth the extra money. If you can't afford it though the 860k will work decently. Overclock it as much as possible (while remaining under 64c).

Should I really upgrade from my GTX 650 to a GTX 750 Ti? I play stuff like CS:GO, LoL, and WoW. I don't ever have a problem with FPS, but I also want to play games with better graphics like Far Cry 4. I probably wouldn't play them as much as CS:GO, LoL, and WoW because my friends don't want to play them with me, but there is also the fact that my trusty 650 won't be able to keep up as game graphics steadily become better. If I do get a GTX 750 Ti, then I will probably upgrade other parts like my CPU to an X4 860K or something and buy a few games. The struggle ;-; . Anyways, thanks if you helped.

Save up for a 760 or a 960/970

You can play p-much everything maxed on a 970, or you can get a 390/390x

I'd honestly wait to see where the 950's performance and price is. A 750ti will go around 120, but the 950 might slightly out perform it and might cost around the same.

To be honest, I'd save for the 960.
It's the sweet spot for 1080p gaming right now and has a very reasonable price. Also, you have a gtx 650 which should handle things just fine for a few weeks/months, depending on how long it'll take you to save up :)

Why do you capitalize so many letters O_O Also, I don't like to use AMD cards because Shadowplay is much better than whatever AMD uses; I think it was GVR or something.

Defnitely upgrade your cpu first. If you can squeeze out an i3 that would be great. As for the gpu, a 750ti is an ok upgrade but by no means amazing. I would save for something like an r9 380 at least. Going higher with an 860k would meet a serious bottleneck, with an i3 the situation would be a little better. I assume this is at 1080p btw.

I think that my monitor is 1680 by 1050 pixels. I won't be playing godly games. The most graphic-straining one would probably be Killing Floor 2 or maybe Far Cry 4. I doubt I would play Far Cry 4 often though. Also, what CPU would you recommend? I intend to keep CPU+Motherboard under $175.

An i3 4160 would be a good choice. You should be able to stay around your budget including the motherboard. For 1680x1050 the 650 should be just fine, your cpu may be the bigger problem.

Thanks. Would a Pentium G3258 be a good choice too? A lot of people recommend that.

Not really imo, it would be worse than the 860k in games like far cry 4. It's good in some games but very bad in others. Besides if you're going to change your motherboard you might as well go for an i3 in the process.
