Lg g3 vs iPhone 6

Go to solution Solved by UltraNeonGaming,

the g3 is definitely future proof compared to the iphone. but i'm wondering if that will matter. i'll only have the phone for 1 or 2 years. (2 years tops)

Yes it will matter a lot apple has been using 1 gig of ram since the iphone 5, thats when andorid phones had been using 2 gigs (GALAXY S3!!!)

The ram is very important because developers can better take advantage of it and make amazing applications

for somebody who has gone to the work of tinkering with a custom rom on a android device I think you will be missing a lot of features that might now be essential to your usage. With android you can always add more features that you're missing than having to live with ones that just do not and will not exist for the IOS devices

both you and UltraNeonGaming are right, ios is a little limited and locked. but that might be what i need right now. i have screwed around with tons of different roms, and almost gotten my phone bricked twice. the only reason i switched roms in the first place was because my phone was a little "laggy", and i didn't like the feel of touch wiz in general. ios is pretty nice looking, and i know that it's not noticeably "laggy". but the costumisabillity of android is a nice thing to have...

The big thing with the G3 is that it has 3 GIGS of RAM and the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have 1 GIG taking no advantage of the 64-bit CPU. And for the iphone a phone that is so damn expensive it better be future proof for iOS updates. The G3 is future proof

Trust me dude the G3 is the perfect choice for you, It also has a 13mp camera where as the iphone 6 and 6 plus have a 8mp which is the same res as the iphone 4s.

Resolution is not everything but when we take photos we take them because we want to view them later in time that's why we take future proof photos

you're probably right there. shure, ios is lightweight and doesn't take up much ram. but it's noth witchcraft. it'll only be so long before they realise: oh, no. the phone is chugging behind because we don't heve enough ram... and then they release the iphone 6s. i'm starting to lean more against the g3 side now...

Exactly! I have used both iPhone and Android, and if i was still using iphone i would be disappointed and very unhappy if the iphone 6 which costs as much as a PC and has 1 gig of ram

Also one big point about the G3 is it's got expandable storage like you're S3, You can put a 128gb sd card in the G3! Storage options are expensive on the iPhone and it's clear apple wants you to spend more money by not giving you the option for a 32 gig phone and make you jump straight for the 64gig

Right because memory adress is the only benefit of a 64bit instruction set.

what's the point of even comparing memory size with different OS and different memory controllers?

my iphone 5s launches every app i've tried noticeably faster than my OnePlus One.

Memory size doesnt matter

and as far as Future Proofing goes, no android is as future proof as iphones, ios 8 will run on a iphone 4s, which is released around the same time as the galaxy S2, the 4s runs an OS released last week, the S2 runs an OS from Jan 2013 (4.1)

a second aspect of future proofing is resale value, apple hardware wins on all frons in that regard.

I like the G3 as a phone, and while the G3 is probably better value compared to the iPhone 6 Plus, it certainly isn't a better phone and definitely won't be as future proof.

I'm not saying 64-bit has only 1 advantage or the iphone is not a good option.

Im recommending the G3 because mrmiffrantranz has been using a custom modded S3 and he will feel right at home with the G3

Also iOS 8 runs like sh*t on iphone 4s and many people don't want to upgrade because it is laggy just like iOS 7 on the IPhone 4 (I know from personal experience from a friend xD)

does ios take up 5 or 6 gigs of the internal memory? (so you only get 10 gigs of actual storage.)

iOS is a hair away from the limit where software optimisation will no longer make the device smoother and there is nothing they can do then only take more money from you with the iphone 6s (Now with 1.5gb of ram)

at this point my parent decide. not directly. but they will be paying the bills. and seeing as they're both iphone users. i'm guessing they will direct me to the iphone 6. but on the other hand: the lg g3 is cheaper. this could go either way. *grabs popcorn*

idk if you can move apps to the sd card on the stock G3 but you sure can on my stock s4 (You could probaly root the G3 and do that since you're a rooter and a tinkerer)

Anyway just found out that the 16gb g3 has 2gb of ram and the 32gb has 3gb

So go with the 32gb G3 you get more ram and more storage all while being  a better phone in the long run

I know my tech stuff

I love the iPhone and Apple (I have allmost every apple product each range) but for this case the G3 is the right selection
