Ubuntu USB failure / fix by reset CMOS?

USB keyboard and mouse stops working in Ubuntu until I reset CMOS, once I do that it works a bit then fails again... Now what happen in Windows? Well no problems! Unless I boot right into Windows after without CMOS reset then the problem appears there to, what causes this? :c

 

CPU: AMD FX-8370

GPU: RTG Vega 56

Mobo: MSI 970 Gaming

What, like reset cmos every time you boot into Ubuntu? 

You should try different USB ports for your peripherals. The "lowest end" connectors are the best, like usb2 and not 3.

Do you have the usb drivers installed on the Ubuntu?

That should be pre-installed right? And yeah using USB 2 ports.

On my old z68 board USB2 was standard and installed but usb3 had to be "activated" with a motherboard driver.

How the hell should CMOS store information about USB? Seems stupid but have you tried just a forced and complete shutdown? 

Anyway, which distro are you using? How you got Ubuntu installed without keyboard and mouse tho? If that is a kernel driver fault, you could check the /var/log/kern.log file for any errors and if there are present for a specific driver (if you'll show me that file I'll tell you if thats it) is probably a kernel-specific bug and would suggest to update to a recent kernel using Ukuu in ubuntu, or just use a more cutting-edge distro

Well I guess if I can safely reach that file before it cuts my USB off then sure, this time when I tried to install Linux Mint it actually had no issues until I rebooted it. So how exactly do I update the kernel? Is there a risk to shut down the machine if the USB fail during that process? (its a fresh install so not much there, my personal theory is that Ubuntu & any other ubuntu after 16.04 OC the system to the point where the USB fail since CPU clocks are higher I noticed when I got into Windows once without the USB failing immediately...)
