Wake on lan madness, working only a minute after a shutdown

Guest

I've got wake on lan configured on my home server, no problems in the LAN, but when I try sending the magic packets from an external network it will work, but ONLY if I do that until some minutes. Only from the WAN, it will always working from a LAN.

The server is an old Acer Aspire m1610, the router is configured to forward 7 and 9 to my server IP, doesn't work if I set the broadcast IP

wake on lan is a very low-level protocol, in a lot of cases it wont even work trough portforward.

i'd suggest if you want to be able to wake the server from a remote location, you use an other means of communication to reach a low power device (like a raspberry pi, for example) which then sends the WOL packet on the local network.
