Best replacement battery option for Galaxy S5?

JoeCoke

My Samsung Galaxy S5's battery is not making it through the day anymore, even with light usage. I've had the phone since 2015, so it's had a pretty good life.

I've been looking around at 3rd party replacement batteries on Amazon, like PowerBear, SUNZOS, Yishda, etc. and I've read some pretty scary stuff in the reviews of pretty much every one. I looked at those extended battery cases (which I REALLY wanted to go with) and it seems like (going by reviews) they work great at first, but within months they start sucking.

I was also thinking about going with a genuine S5 battery, problem is, it seems like all the official S5 batteries on Amazon/eBay are phonies.

So I guess I'm asking this, what battery would you go with and where would you buy it? I reeeally wanna go for a extended battery case but I've read some bad things, has anyone on this forum had a good experience with them? If I was gonna go for a original s5 battery, where would you recommend I buy one?

Some of the stuff I've looked at: (Amazon links)

3rd party battery (SUNZOS)

3rd party battery (PowerBear)

Extended battery (PowerBear)

Genuine batteries probably aren't good anymore. Lithium batteries have a shelf life of around 2 or 3 years.

That extended battery is chunky AF.

Don't mind the bulk at all, making it to the end of a heavy use day with half a battery left just sounds too awesome, and I'm willing to make that trade off.

Random rant that just kinda happened: o_o

Spoiler

And besides, recent Android devices piss me off. Lack of headphone jacks is a big problem for me as I use mine a lot even though I primarily use a bluetooth set with my phone. Lack of swapable batteries is another big no no for me. I also hate tall aspect ratios like the 18.5:9 screen on recent Galaxy phones. I could go on about other stupid trends like notches, round screen edges, etc. Modern smartphone design just pisses me off. And to top it all off, I'm not exactly rich. I'd rather build a new rig than buy a new phone, because phones bore me anyway. I just want it to work, that's all.

Guess I'll just try my luck with one of the 3rd party batteries. I mean, wasting 15$ isn't exactly a big deal. I'll just cross my fingers that my S5 won't turn into a Note 7.

You can get that from a modern phone with the proper spec. My Zenfone 3 Zoom would easily last a heavy day of use and then some.

Haha, I suppose if you're needing a headphone jack it'd be annoying. I don't see the hate for tall aspect ratio phones though. Just gives you a bigger screen in the same size body. No modern phone has swappable batteries, but I don't see the issue with how long they last these days.
