EVGA RTC 2080 XC Ultra problem with display port

I've upgraded to the above from a GTX 970 xc. Super excited but a bit short lived. Before putting the new card in my system I did all the proper removal steps of the old card in device manager and removed old display drivers, also dlded the new ones to use once installed.

Installation went without a hitch. Posted into windows and proceeded to installed the new drivers. Card was detected and installation was completing and then the screen went blank. This has happened before when installing drivers so no cause for concern, however the screen never came back on and the monitor showed that no cable was plugged in. I left the process alone for about 5 mins and still nothing. Performed a shutdown and restarted. There's picture/display when starting up Mobo logo works etc, but when the screen switches to windows log on it goes blank.

System specs:
Monitor BenQ xl2730
Mobo gigabyte aorus gaming 7

I'm at a loss here any help is appreciated and I hope this is posted in the right section. If anymore info is needed please ask.

edit: monitor shows no signal detected, apologies

I have tried them all, same result.

I've tried booting in safe mode and I get display. Used ddu to remove all display drivers and booted in normal mode and was able to get display as well. However when installing the drivers 416.96 I think, same thing blank screen.

I don't have an HDMI cable I might have to try that FML, got this card on Kijiji and it was an unopened, sealed box there should be no issue. I've also registered the product with EVGA on their website.

Never had this happen...

I've posted on the EVGA forums as well, I've gotten some help there with the safe mode procedure. Also got asked if the display port cable is Vesa, If not I'd have problems. Why would it not be?

So before the new card installation I was running my 970 at 1440p and 144hz. I think this is where the problem lies. I got frusiamd reinstalled Windows, all was fine until I set the resolution to 1440p and 144hz. The the display went blank. Now again I can't get display when getting into windows. Is there a fox for this, have I missed something...

Have you tried using older drivers? Like using DDU to clean, then install an older one and keep testing to see if it still happens?

I've used DDU to clean the driver installation in Win10 Safe mode. But as stated above now I can't get to the log on screen and my display goes blank. This is so frustrating as I reinstalled windows for the 23094839 time with this build, just encountered so many hiccups.

I may have to go into safe mode again, unistall the card from device manager, ddu the drivers again and see if I can get into windows that way. I've seen that drivers 416.34 were the last to work with RTX cards and xl2730 monitors using 144hz so I'll try that. Failing that I may have to use 120hz which is also a pseudo solution found on the net.

Apparently Nvidia and BenQ are aware but there's no progress, they've been aware since 416.81 apparently.

New meme RTX ON Megahertz OFF FML, what else can go wrong now... <really frustrated>

Anyone have suggestions on how I can roll back the resolution and refresh rate in safe mode so that the monitor will be able to display in windows normal boot. @xg32 , @Kibelok

Do you have another computer or laptop where you can download the older drivers, then put it in a USB and try installing it while in Safe mode? This way you can maybe access the control panel and change resolution/refresh rate.
