i know i'm late on this but what the heck is dimm.2 and why?

I think he means DIMM.2, the ASUS M.2 to DIMM adapter thingie they have on some boards. Seems to me like it's a space saving thing, letting you put your M.2 SSDs where they can get better cooling instead of stuffing them behind a GPU or two, since it's usually on the higher end mobos.
