Programming class

I am currently in my class and I have come to realize, it is too slowly paced and easy for me. There is an advanced option for the class, Should I ask to be moved up to the harder class or stay for the "Easy A"

 

I don't really want to be here just because the grade is easy, I actually want to learn something and at this point I am not. I am thinking that would be the best choice but I am not too sure.

buy books, read books, keep your A in easy class and learn a lot more than in the advanced class.

Well, I'm fluent in the programming language we use so even in the advanced class it will be pretty easy.

If you are so good, why not work on your own projects, while attending to get the record for having had said course. These projects could be anything that could challenge you, such as implementing your own versions of different sorting method, data structures etc. Or they could be utilities or small apps you could release somewhere.

 

I don't know what kind of school you are attending, but in universities some courses have prerequisites. So taking the advanced programming course would have the beginner course as a prerequisite. Not sure if that is the case where you study. If it is, stay in the class, if not, get moved up to challenge yourself.

Challenge yourself, take the advanced class and ask for extra work. The grade will likely stay where it is and instead of being bored you might learn something interestings.

I'd say take part of programming competitions, join a programming group or if you really want to challenge yourself create your own. This isn't just competitive but also FUN! you'll meet new awesome people and you'll always learn something new from this, you'll be surprised how different >=intermediate programmers code.

If you are in college, try to see if you can take a challenge exam to test out of the course...

 

Then you have more time to do other stuff throughout your week 0.o

I'd say go for it, if it is doesn't take too much time. Besides, you are only asking; is there much harm in asking?

Another idea, which someone here has mentioned already, is to learn on your own.
