Ableton

Go to solution Solved by hypermodel,

now it's 47 procent wow ( it takes like middle ages time too freeze but it works)

I am going too start upgrading due too crackling noise in my audio comming from an overloaded CPU

Processor : Intel Core(TM)2 Quad PU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz ( and oh yeah 8 Giga bytes of Ram )

The proces I run is called Ableton 10 suite

it runs perfectly but due too plugins ( virtual effects and instruments) i reach a sometimes a load of 105 procent to 121 procent of usage ( The CPU) ; a preamp uses 30 procent of my CPU alone (so i use 1 now on a bus )

my budget is set too minimum because i haven't made any money from my music ( very underground : )

but i am willing too come up with 500 euro for the cpu alone

i have no understanding of good builds ( my computer has  an asus radeon  1 Gb D5 x EAH5770CUCORE/2DIS ; I just realized i have 1 Gigabyte hihi , and i even used too play Gta V on it hahah and even streamed it too the internet , i must say it crashed while streaming about a 21 minutes in the stream)

Could someone who enjoys building and loves to do builds ; make me an computer for 10 years of reliable work lifespan

by forehand Thanks

Kind Regards Sam

the maximum usage percent any component can have is 100%. even overclocked.... a percentage is a portion of it's total which is 100.

the q8300 is pretty old and i would make sure that any standard cheapo office computer isn't capable of running whatever software it is you're using before actually building a new machine

Thats impossible to do. We can give you 5 years of good lifespan, and after that it goes into "depends" mode. Also how much are you willing to spend? Because getting i7 or R7 now will be good for 5-7+ years for most part. I can't say for sure if its enough for music production for that long, because it isn't for video creation or 3D rendering. Midrange GPU is good for 3 years, high end bit longer. So main question is, do you select platform with potential for upgrades, or platform without seeable upgrades, but enough power now to keep it going longer. Latter will cost more, obviously.

Sadly we can't predict the future. If you want something that'll last that many years you might have to spend a few thousand on parts now.

Some things you can do is invest in a platform that has some longevity. If you want something cost effective, powerful and able to play some games, take a look at this:

Thank you for putting my feet on earth again

i am willing too pay around 500 euro for the Cpu  ( Intel® Core i7-9700K, 3.6 GHz (4.9 GHz Turbo Boost) socket 1151 processor )  for example

and about 300 for the video card (for  5 gta V)

The 9700K isn't worth the price tag. The Ryzen 7 2700X is way better value.

yes it 's funny i thought the same about the Cpu indicator on the right side of the screen of ableton 's program ( but it' s true the program really shows unreal numbers)

the load is ment to be at 60 procent of the whole cpu the pragram builder says

why dont you check your actual cpu usage then

Hang on,  before you people jump in with massive builds.  Is this for Audio work only?  If it is how many channels and effects do you normally run during a project?

I am not familiar with ableton,  but when using reaper I have yet to max out my CPU or Ram (3550 and 8g) my projects usually has about 22 channels and 31 effects.

Audio should not be a heavy workload for anything made in the last 5 years.

i can make a bus effect but that would only divide it in three, so about 20 effects than that is how far my brain goes at the moment

Ableton recomend lower latency but for improvisations it is a must too hear what you are exactly doing

I AM GOING TO TRY OUT THE FREEZE TRACK SOLUTION OF ABLETON . WILL LET YOU KNOW IF IT HAS WORKED OR NOT

just wanted too let you know it's a nine year old computer and she stiil works( putted togheter myself with no expierience)
