Need new GPU for old PC

Hi all, I am the new guy and need some advice for getting a new GPU.

 

Basically my GPU died a while ago. It's a 560ti, CPU is i5 2320, 8gb ram, 1080p 60hz monitor. I am not a huge gamer, I did play battlefield 3, DMC4, and ps2 simulator. Is getting a 1060 6gb a good choice at the time being?

Yeah a GTX 1060 6gb is a good option, not overkill at all.

I’m gonna assume you play at 1080p 60 Hz? A 1060 6GB is a huge step up. You could also go with a 1050 Ti or maybe a used 970 (they’re dirt cheap and out perform a 1050 Ti by a bit). You will probably be limited by your CPU a little bit, but any of those cards should be fine for you

For your "rare" use of game i would suggest 1050ti.

It will play most games at medium, it will double if not triple the performance of your old card. 950mhz vs 1400mhz.

The price is around $150, i think is the best bang for the buck.

Alternatively, a used 960 should outperform (or be almost identical to) a 1050ti. You can find those for less than $100. Sometimes significantly cheaper. Check your local craigslist/kijiji. 

 

EDIT: But yes, if you're set on the 1060 it's a very solid card. You can definitely play modern titles at 60 fps at 1080p.

Yes a 960 would outperform 1050ti by a bit.

Bare in mind that 960 have lower clock speed and a 4gb 960s are rare.

And anything older than 3 years have much more risk of failure.

But if OP don't mind the 1060 pricetag, then go for it, its a very good card...
