Just wanted to get a general sense on what people's thoughts are on built-in wifi on motherboards these days.

Have you had issues with Windows/Linux or specific programs?

Using the wifi as a AP?

Never use wifi if you want a fast and stable internet connection.

But there's nothing wrong with a good quality motherboard that has built in wifi.

WiFi just isnt as fast or stable as LAN, wouldn't use one on a desktop which doesnt have to move around. Of course having it as a feature doesn't hurt, just don't see myself using it.

I use it to cast to my TV in another room since it was in every board I bought recently. Other than that, just in laptops.

I vote a triband (mesh) extender with an Ethernet port and LAN that way. You may need 1-2 extenders.

I used to have an Asus Z-87 Pro and it worked perfectly, until now.

I recently bought an ASUS ROG Maximus X Code. But the Wi-Fi network adapter does not let me make an AP. The Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter, according to Windows, is not compatible with my new wireless adapter.

my girlfriend's laptop does not let create access point neither.

I use the AP mode to share internet access. Nothing else.

Have the crosshair vi wifi.  It's been super solid, I roll wifi 24/7 on my desktop rig, zero issues for gaming or otherwise.
