Flickr will end 1TB of free storage and limit free users to 1,000 photos

Haha I did think that a data based limit would be better so I wonder how they'll handle people dropping huge 20k x 20k images or something, Previously it's taken my stitched images fine.

No, far from it. 1000 pictures is super easy to accumulate over the years.

If we assume that a person takes an average of 1 picture a day (not that unreasonable, especially not when considering events where multiple pictures are taken, like weddings, when their children are small, and so on) then you'll have 1000 pictures in less than 3 years.

 

But considering how many pictures are taken just on phones these days, I am sure lots of people, especially parents with babies or small children, can take over 1000 pictures a year.

I've accumulated 6000 photos of work related stuff since I started this job and that was since January, vast majority came in may to september. That's the drone, the camera and my phone combined.

 

Personally if I had my own DSLR camera I'd have about 6000 photos a week with the times I leave work. Gotta love sun set lighting.

The thing is that it's very easy for professional photographers or enthusiasts to accumulate thousands of photos in a very short period of time.

I know that for sure. When I first picked it up as an elective in college I probably took 200+ photos a day just to submit 1 for class. I think my final assignment was about 7 inches thick with just pics I'd taken that whole semester.

My SD card is capable of storing around 2300+ 24MP RAW files.

 

I fill that up in less than a month
