2 1080p IPs monitors or 1 1440p monitor?

Olli_

Hi

I have just got a gtx 1070 as the new rtx cards didn’t seem to be worth it for me. I was just wondering what would be the better option? Get a 25 inch 1440p monitor or two 1080p monitors ? The screen size would be around the same for the 1080p ones. I will be doing ‘light” gaming on it and also graphic design and also other things I have a pretty bad TN  pannel at the moment and have had it for a long time and desperately needs a upgrade. I Was thinking of waiting until Black Friday to buy so hopefully will be some good deals. I just wasn’t sure how well a 1070 can do at 1440p.

thanks

A 1070 performs well at 1440p. You can expect 60 fps+ even in demanding games. Personally I love 1440, think it's a great balance between resolution and still being able to get high frame rates

My Build, v2.1 --- CPU: i7-8700K @ 5.2GHz/1.288v || MoBo: Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming || RAM: 4x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 2666 14-14-14-33 || Cooler: Custom Loop || GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC Black, on water || PSU: EVGA G2 850W || Case: Corsair 450D || SSD: 850 Evo 250GB, Intel 660p 2TB || Storage: WD Blue 2TB || G502 & Glorious PCGR Fully Custom 80% Keyboard || MX34VQ, PG278Q, PB278Q

Audio --- Headphones: Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX || Amp: Schiit Audio Magni 3 || DAC: Schiit Audio Modi 3 || Mic: Blue Yeti

The Experiment --- CPU: i5-3570K @ 4.0 GHz || MoBo: Asus P8Z77-V LK || RAM: 16GB Corsair 1600 4x4 || Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo || GPUs: Asus GTX 750 Ti, || PSU: Corsair TX750M Gold || Case: Thermaltake Core G21 TG || SSD: 840 Pro 128GB || HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB

R.I.P. Asus X99-A motherboard, April 2016 - October 2018, may you rest in peace. 5820K, if I ever buy you a new board, it'll be a good one.

Multiple monitors are kinda overrated and silly imo- for most things one screen is plenty if you just get used to tiling your windows. They can be useful if you heavily multitask regularly though.

Personally I'm gonna upgrade from my 2x 1080p's to a 32" 1440p.

2 Monitors are of course better, but if you can afford the more premium IPS panel, there is no reason to go for TN, even if you can buy 2 of them. Just go for the IPS, you won't mistake with it, the color reproduction is that much better !

For light to mid gaming 1070 is sufficient on 1440p. If you're talking about E-sports games and not playing AAA games entirely on maximum settings.

Hi thanks for the reply I was looking at this monitor https://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-BL2420PT-Designer-Adjustment-Animation/dp/B00UAMYTR8/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1540991543&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ips+2k+monitor&dpPl=1&dpID=51ct0WuZUbL&ref=plSrch are there any others you would recommend around that price point ?

I see that it has really good reviews for what it has. If you're not in a need of 144hz monitor I don't see any issue with this one

I can't live without 2 monitors. I've never gamed over 1080p but, i don't think 1440p is enough for me to let go of an extra monitor.

I would say get two 1080p IPS panels. You're going to do "light" gaming so this isn't your focus. If you ever want to look at something else while doing video editing, the 2 screens will help a lot.
