so on the product page it says LPDDR3 or something to that effect, along with 8th gen CPUs. How is this possible? doesnt 8th gen only support ddr4?

The base model is most likely a 7th gen considering it's a dual core i5.

Yes, it's stupid.

The website says 8th.

The speed on the first one says 1.6GHz.

There are no Coffee Lake 1.6 GHz mobile processors:

The only one that fits the bill of 8th gen and 1.6GHz is the Core i5-8250U, which is a Kaby Lake processor.

Yes the turbo speed is off, but you could also claim it's an underclocked Core i5-8350U

As @M.Yurizaki pointed out, the dual core 8th gen chips are just rebranded 7th gen chips. None of the actual new 8th gen i5s are dual cores as far as I know. Either way, you shouldn't be buying a dual core laptop for more than 400$ in 2018.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Looks likely that it uses the 8120Y Amber Lake Core i5 as its baseline

Kind of a letdown on a performance front, tbh. Was hoping they'd use the lower tier of the U-Series chips
