RX 580 8gb or 1060 6gb?

Which is a better card for 1080p gaming with a Ryzen 2600 and 16gb of ram? They're both the same price, so the budget is not a concern. Any tips? Thanks.

both are simular card better and worse in some games. If you get a good card from one of them, you won't regret

If you want some extra performance the GTX 1060 is a good choice.

They perform about the same overall, and the RX 580 8GB has more VRAM, so there's not really any extra performance to be had with the GTX 1060.

Depending on the game there's some good FPS gains on the GTX 1060 all while consuming less power (6 pin vs 6+2pin)

 

I'm seeing a 6fps gain in The Witcher 3, 2fps or so in some other games, and the rest the RX580 is slightly faster. Mostly within margin of error though. The RX580 will probably beat the 1060 in compute stuff too, but like you said it does consume more power. In the end both cards are pretty much equal in gaming though, I'd go for whichever is cheapest, unless you need/want to get a freesync monitor, then get the RX.

RX 580 cause it's newer, has more Vram and runs cooler in most cases.

If you are going to pick between the 2 - get the RX 580 8gb - solely because they are similar performers - but the delta is in the RAM on the GPU - go with 8gb over 6gb.
