So...since people are not calling Mac's, Intel Pc's on this board and are actually arguing over two Intel PC's running a different OS, I made this poll.

Mac OS btw is Unix based. Apple and MS both stole the GUI and mouse from Xerox. Installing Mac OS on an Intel PC without an apple on it, is also legal. Selling clones is not, because our legal system sucks. In other countries it is perfectly legal.

CPU:24/7-4770k @ 4.5ghz/4.0 cache @ 1.22V override, 1.776 VCCIN. MB: Z87-G41 PC Mate. Cooling: Hyper 212 evo push/pull. Ram: Gskill Ares 1600 CL9 @ 2133 1.56v 10-12-10-31-T1 150 TRFC. Case: HAF 912 stock fans (no LED crap). HD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB. Display: Dell S2340M IPS. GPU: Sapphire Tri-x R9 290. PSU:CX600M OS: Win 7 64 bit/Mac OS X Mavericks, dual boot Hackintosh.

Just a thought, shouldn't your poll have a question not a title? I, myself, have a MBA but I would never buy a desktop Mac because you can get so much more for your money via building your own PC.

Okay topic probably isn't about that. Sorry :).

Would I ever build a Hackintosh? Hmm...I don't really know TBH, I mean I have thought about it but it all sounds kind of complicated since you have to get specific hardware to make it work, you can't just grab any ole components together. If you could, then I would probably think more about it.

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

I have nothing against hackintosh, but I prefer owning the original products, so if I was to own MacOS it would likely be a macbook

You prefer to own an original Intel CPU, integrated realtek sound card and network card, a third party HD and SSD, an Intel Motherboard chipset? Or is it the underclocked Nvidia/ATI card with horrible cooling that you prefer? All these things are on a Hackintosh, except they run cooler and can be clocked higher. So is a genuine copy of Mac OS, which costs $19.99 (it went down).

Or is it the display in the Imac you love. That panel is made by LG. It can be bought here. See the microphone hole? That display has no microphone in it. It is the same IPS panel found in an 27 " Imac. It is not the best IPS panel but it is pretty decent with calibration.

http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=113&cp_id=11307&cs_id=1130703&p_id=10509&seq=1&format=2

So basically, you just prefer the plastic shell containing these parts which costs 2x more and runs at higher temps due to horrible airflow. Well it is some nice looking plastic...

If you want to pay for that apple logo? I hope they at least give you some apple stickers with it. Original product? No. Apple makes nothing except a really bad keyboard and mouse, and you can put both of them on a Hackintosh.

Except for the plastic part (There is no plastic mac anymore), You're right, despite being a bit rude.

I'd just like to point something out : some people don't have the time to configure and build a computer, for instance when running a business. For these people a prebuilt computer, which is probably more solid and easier to move, with a global warranty instead of one for each component, is just the only way.

Of course it may not be cooled as well, and you don't have much choice for the hardware, but when you just need to get your job done, it's really not a limiting factor.

For any other people you're right though, your truth is just not THE truth for everyone.  ;)

The person I replied to does not own a Apple computer. Read his post.

The people who can't build a computer usually don't visit LTT. :) Many system builders and first time builders here.

I consider it rude of Apple and media to portray one Intel PC as a "Mac" and the other as a "PC". I also consider it rude for Apple to take existing technology like SSD caching and rename it "fusion drive" and act as if they came up with it.

This was a company that was founded on stealing the GUI from Xerox though...and the mouse. No different then Gates and MS. Gates and Jobs were both ruthless business men without ethics. Do you know who those people were at Xerox? Nope. That my friend is a tragedy. Perhaps not a Nikola Tesla - Edison tragedy, but a sad thing nonetheless.

Should watch that movie. Much better then that tripe "Jobs".

Your post was still rude to any apple product owner on this public forum, and they exist. (I'm one of them  :) )

Now don't get me wrong, I don't feel offended the least, but some might. And the most enlightened opinion isn't worth anything if rudely formulated.

You were right until now, but do you really make your choice on some big company's gossip ? Come on, we would buy the best product from the worst company, and it would be stupid not to. Buying a computer isn't a political vote, it's just what you get for your money.

Also I saw that movie (long ago), and I loved it, even if I didn't know about apple computers back then  :P .

I wouldn't go out of my way to build a hackintosh. But if one of my past, current or future computers was compatible of turning into one, then I would have a dual boot OSX and win7 PC.

But yeah, I wouldn't buy a mac....

I own an Early 2011 Macbook Pro for work and love it to pieces, and wouldn't trade it for the world honestly. Better battery life then anything else, good OS, does everything I need, top notch warranty that even covered sand getting into every nook and cranny. Damn sand storms. I also bought 99 more for my employees to take with them. It doesn't matter what someone prefers to do. I can't really make another Macbook Pro from a desktop so its not an option for me. Sorry.

What a pathetic thread, try to update a hackintosh within a few minutes. aint even going to start..

Not true either ....

I just used the internal updater to update from 10.8 to 10.9 without a problem. Just run Multibeast (few seconds task) after the update to be sure.

But generally said updates on a real Mac work (a little bit) more flawless.
