Does this look like a good build?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2wY0g
Does this look good so far?? My friend wants me to pick out parts for his computer. If you have suggestions for parts, he likes the color green and would like a little purple and he also has a $2000 max budget. He intends to use the computer for Moderate/Heavy Gaming and Video Editing

What will he be doing? Gaming?

Well, it seems alright by my standards, but I'd wait for more people's opinions.

I would say cut the RAM to 8GB, get a cheaper board and go for a 4770K and GTX 770 (maybe 780?). I would personally forego the 200mm and LED fans, and just go for all AF140s, but that is just becuase I find LED fans too flashy.

It looks like you picked up the right parts for your friends pc. The 760 and intel i5 you choose are perfect for his use case scenario for under 2000 dollars.

Looks great to me. If I were going to change anything I would probably get a cheaper board and put more money into the GPU. Maybe bump it up to a 770. I guess your getting the $50 rebate though so its a good deal.

Edit: you could also get away with a 650W PSU instead, unless your friend is planning on upgrading in the future.

Project MEGA - My New Main PC

Project NANO - A Scratchbuilt Home Server.

I'm guessing that for the OP, that just won't be an option - his friend needs to do lots of video editing.

Definitely get a cheaper motherboard, i don't see a cpu fan in there so i dont think he is going to be overclocking so you could save atleast 250 bucks and get a motherboard which will do the exact same thing.

CPU: i5 4670k with Noctua C12P-SE14 GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 SSD: 250gb Samsung EVO MOBO: MSI Z87-G43 RAM: 8GB G-Skill 1600mhz PSU: Antec HCG 620W CASE: Corsair 300R windowed

I do a lot of video editing and gaming. The 1866 16 GB ram is a good idea. If you're big into gaming I'd probably up the GPU to a 770 at least. An i7 4770k would help with the video editing and shorten your rendering times as well.

You should definitely get some cheaper parts and put the money into getting a better gpu.

Don't get the 770 4gb. It only has a 256bit memory bus the extra 2 gig wont be utilized because the memory bus can't keep up. ( I can't explain things, sorry) the 770 2gb should be fine for 1080p gaming. If you want to overclock your i5, you should look for the h100i. Other than that it's pretty good.

Take a look at this. I changed out the GPU, CPU and the CPU cooler. You'll get AMAZING performance for both gaming and video editing. It is, however a bit more expensive. (80$) But considering that includes the OS, and quite a few peripherals, it's a pretty beast computer. You'll also be able to overclock the CPU quite a bit with the new cooler.

Edit: Or just stick with the 4670k and overclock that. You'll be very pleased with both. :)

Given the height of the Viper 3 memory modules (41mm) 212 EVO may interfere with a memory module installed in the first slot.

alrighty
