What system are you planning on using with the PSU? (Full system specs)

gpu 1080 or 2070

You'd be fine with the RM550x or RM650i. You don't need 850W and there won't be any benefit from going the more expensive 850W model unless you're planning on using SLI 1080s/2080s.

It's not future proofing it's wasting money because you don't know what you actually need. Are you going to SLI or use an i9/TR CPU? If not then you'll never need 850W

RX550 has been excellent in my ITX build. 

 

I’m running 8600 and an RX580 with a couple of SSDs and a HDD. 

 

My system is a high FPS 1080p build so I specced my PSU for that as a 1440p build is out of my budget range.

 

i5 8600 - RX 6600 - Fractal Nano S - 1080p 144Hz
