SSD Suggestion

Go to solution Solved by whoisit1118,

I would get the 860 EVO from Samsung. They are fast, reliable, and affordable.

It's only 87 dollars right now too.

Hi everyone,

I have 1 TB HDD and I want to buy an additional SSD. My main reason to buy a new SSD is to launch application faster. I am a gamer, but I mainly want to buy an SSD to launch applications like "Android Studio", "Intellij IDEA" faster (because currently these applications take a long time to start). So which SSD is suitable for me? I am planning to buy a 250GB/500GB SSD. I am on a budget somewhere around 100$ (but you can suggest cheaper or expensive ones).

PC Specifications (in case you need):
Core-i5 7500

Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB DDR-4 RAM

AMD RX-580

Mother Board - Gigabyte Gaming B8

MX500 is pretty solid. You can sometimes find cheap NVME/PCIE drives around there as well, like the SX6000, aaaand....HP EX920 (I think?).

Personally the Samsung Evo/Pro series like the 840/850 have been pretty good performers. Also Intels server SSDs. Though I'm pretty sure you won't get a 500GB of one of those for <=$100.

Edit: I am mistaken. Prices have dropped a lot. Go full ham, 500GB.
