Could my RAM be the bottleneck?

DrDerp

The TLDR of this is essentially I have been getting low low framerates at times where I am pretty sure I shouldn't be. In Shadow Warrior 2 it dips down to the 30's at times when it is at 1080p High, and I am not sure why. I'm using a Core i5 2400 and RX 570 combo, but my RAM is running at 1000 MHz. I have 1 stick of DDR3 8 Gb Clocked at 1000 MHz and the other a 4 Gb stick with the speed of 1300 or something close, it's been a while since I've checked.

Is it possible that my RAM is the bottleneck to my system? Or am I just expecting too much from my parts?

Thanks a lot.

Who needs fancy graphics and high resolutions when you can get a 60 FPS frame rate on iGPUs?

There is no option for 1000mhz on ddr3. Can you show the exact settings from the bios/cpu-z?

Check your ingame cpu, gpu and ram usage and clock speeds with msi afterburner so we can be sure what component is maxed out

Your CPU is probably the limiting factor.

I've checked and it rarely if ever reaches even 90% usage. It is surprisingly competent.

I mean, it maybe RAM speeds, but I think that it is the CPU.

I'll try to get afterburner working for some benchmarks, but it's not wanted to cooperate with my system.

try with a single stick of ram. since it's single channel, having populated the channel with the ram that you did might be messing with the motherboard.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

That does not mean it is not holding you back.  If the game leans heavily on 1-2 threads, the CPU will limit your performance at 25%-50% usage on a quad core.

Oof that was a long long time ago.

Deepcool Gammaxx cooler for the CPU.

The case isn’t designed for airflow, and has poor cable management being honest.
