Laptop for work

Hey all,

I’m looking to buy a laptop to work off when I’m on the road or not next to my desktop at home. I have a desktop for gaming, so this is not something that is important to me. Here Is what I’m looking for:

Future proof, need it to work and run without slowing down for at least the next 5 years if not more.

Battery life, would prefer 6 hours or more.

Screen size: 13-15

I’m based in the UK

lighter the better

would prefer metal or carbon body

Budget is up to £1500, but cheaper the better. Would prefer to spend under £1000

windows 10 for OS

Would prefer 512 gb or more for storage

16gb Ram. I’m a heavy chrome user with often around a 100 tabs open

I’m willing to sacrifice on all my points expect the first if it’s reflected in the price

Some of the ones I was looking at but I’m up for anything really:

Dell XPS 2018

LG Gram

Xiaomi MI

Thanks for the help!

If you want to be able to do some gaming on the relative cheap look around for the Matebook D with an R5 2500U, hardware is upgradable I believe..Ryzen laptops could all do with a bigger battery option though

Otherwise just buy an XPS something, seems to be popular with few issues. Every laptop is going to be limited in one way or another.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I can speak highly for the Dell XPS! I have the 2017 XPS and not only does it have one of the best screens on an ultrabook, but the new i7 CPU's (2018 models) are phenomenal. They are meant for productivity work and the battery life is great. I use mine daily for school and work, already putting it through the ringer and it's holding up great.
