Well both of them cost arounf £150 - Personally I dont care aslong as it works and does the job need

If I get the 3570k im going to get the asrock z77 extreme 4

What should I get for the 8350 if i choose that?

i5 3570k, it's a no brainer.

Intel > AMD

I don't know what these guys are rambling about but the 3570k is overclockable.... ^^

Which cooler will you be using?

I have the 3570k + Z77 Extreme4 and it rocks.

Now that's just straight up nonsense fanboyism. I'm on the Intel side but dismissing the importance of AMD CPU's is stupid. The 3570K does outperform the 8320 (given both are running at stock clocks), but the 3570K is also a considerable step up in price.

Let's not start (another) flame war of 'fanboyism'. This is straight forward question and doesn't need the baggage of "Intel vs AMD".

Bottom line is that both CPUs are fantastic: looking at reviews, the 3570K would seem to perform  better overall; however, i doubt you will really notice a difference between the two in terms of real use. If power consumption and heat is something you are worried about (small case, little ventilation etc) then perhaps the 3570K would be the better option as the 83X0 does run a little warmer. That said, the 8320, as suggested previously, offers very good price to performance and comes in significantly cheaper than the i5 and would also be more than sufficient for gaming.

it all depends on how much money are you willing to spend.

the i5 3570k can out perform the 8350 in most of the gaming titles but the 8350 has more cores which can be VERY USEFUL. Since you only plan to do gaming and if money is not the problem, i would go for the i5 3570k.

i5 is better. You don't need AMD's extra cores for gaming & architecturally Intel is better + it's single core outeperforms AMD cpu.

in terms of performance, games are taking advantage of more than 4 cores, and as games come out in 2014 this should become more noticeable. On the other hand, most of the motherboards you'll be getting are going to be around 2 years old (some will be older). I would go with the i5 on account of newer motherboards and more investment in the platform in general.

Theoretically AMD 8320/50s are supposed to be used on a 990FX motherboard, however I'm not entirely sure that you can find one at around 100$, since they are usually a tad more expensive. Having that in mind the AMD chip will work on any AM3+ socket motherboard just fine if you don't do much overclocking (above 4.5-4.6GHz).

If the system is strictly used for gaming a 3570K with that ASRock motherboard will do just fine and will even perform better than the AMD competition in heavily CPU demanding games.

then get any other cooler at around the same price

he should get the 8320 or the 8350 over the 3570k because he needs those extra cores in the streaming and gaming sessions

if you get an 8 core get this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-000-RT&groupid=701&catid=2330 its much better than the 212 performance wise and not much more money. it will really help because those amd's kick out a lot of heat.

He's using british pounds and not dollars. 8320's at £100 is normal.

If he's not playing games that are heavily reliant on fast, individual cores, some thing like a 8320 + 970A-DS3P + 212 Evo is a relatively cheap but effective option. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1ajSj

you will need a fx motherboard because you wont b able to use the 8cores on ive got the 8350 running at 5ghz and i only used the 4 cores at the moment due to only having 16 gb ram and the asus motherboards do a good job in running this

Updated bios/revisions allow non-fx mobos to support fx 8 cores.

I don't see what your ram has to do with the number of cores you use.

Get the 8350, skip the 8320 if you are able, in the early days of 8350/8320 the they were close, but now, since the 9370 and 9590 are out, AMD is picking better chips for the 9000 chips, the ones that are average go as 8350's and the "worst" ( need the same voltage as 8350, but for a lower clock, ergo slower cpu ) become the 8320's.

One more thing the 8350 is not an overclocked 8320, the 8320 is a downclodked 8350, there is a difference, when designing a chip, be it AMD or Intel when they make an architecture, and then they disable features/cores if a chip can't handle it ( various reasons ) or there is a high demand for cheaper chips, more money = more features from the chip ( the 9000 are different, since they are the best versions and highest oveclocking capable 8350's )
