M.2 Not booting/showing after 1809 rollback

joshuah120

PC will not boot into m.2 NVME SSD. After running updates to windows 10 1809 I had some strange performance issues. I rolled back using the revert to a previous windows installation option and once it'd reverted it refused to boot. I noticed that when I booted into recovery media that the disk didn't appear in diskpart but the volume did. I have since done various BIOS resets, ran a windows-to-go environment and ran gparted with no luck. In windows-to-go I found that it didn't have the device driver and couldn't do anything, I added the driver and the device now provides the error:

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

"An I/O adapter hardware error has occurred."

I have reseated the drive etc and have no luck within any OS.

In BIOS however...

I can see the drive and if I go to the ASUS EZ Flash 2 utility I can see the drive and its content in the root of the drive but it freezes when you try to go further.

SPEC's are as follows:

OS: Windows 10 Pro x64

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO GAMER (2203 BIOS)

M.2 drive: Samsung 950 Pro 256GB

Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K @4.00GHz

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 4x8192MB 1333MHz

PSU: Corsair HX750i

Graphics: ASUS ROG Strix GTX1080

CPU cooler: Corsair H80i

Case: InWin 904 Plus Black

Other Drives:

1TB HDD Hitachi

2TB HDD Western Digital

512GB SSD Samsung 750

256GB SSD Samsung 850

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Josh

can you try booting into an Ubuntu usb and see what you can do there. can you still browse your files while in ubuntu? if you can I'd recommend plugging in a spare drive or something and making a backup using the Ubuntu live environment before you go any further.
