Stood/moved on carpet. Picked up Mobo. Can’t test if it will post first component really rather it not be dead. MAAAASSSIVEEE Noob. Mobo was in black shiny bag. Was this the antistatic bag and I am an idiot, or was this just a bag an I have a dead Mobo?

If it was in the antistatic bag(the bag it comes packaged with) then the odds are it'll be fine.

There's really no way to test it if you don't have everything else, though.

That was most likely the antistatic bag it was in, you should be fine.

Something to note is that people sometimes overblow static. While it's definitely an issue, simply touching your board after standing on a carpet is unlikely to kill it. Not to say you should do that, just if you do it'll probably be OK.

it's time

Litteraly built my entire build on carpet as I don't have a table large enough to have all the components laid out granted I only put the case in the carpet and then installed the components that were sitting on a table. I think people think you are going to shock the thing so easily. I just didn't wear clothing that would cause static and touched the case to ground myself before touching components. I mean I understand the fear as I have been there. When I did my first build I was on hardwood floor and only in my boxers to make extra sure that I didn't have static coming from clothing. I even was debating just building it naked but I felt that would be weird. Anyways I would have to 100% agree that people take static electricity way too seriously. Just ground yourself before touching things and don't wear wool socks and rub them on the carpet before touching components. Actually if you are on carpet it's best to not be wearing socks tbh.
