Needs an updated BIOS most likely on the motherboard to work with the 2000 series CPUs.

You can see if any local shops will update it for you for a few bucks or see if you can get your hands on a 1000 series Ryzen chip and cheapo GPU to update it first and then drop in the 2200G

I called GB techsupport and they told me that it supports that CPU. but idk I'll try contact amazon support to get second cpu

The board, with an updated BIOS, will support the CPU, yes, but if your box doesn't have a sticker on it saying "Ready for second gen Ryzen" or whatever, then the BIOS isn't up to date and won't post with a 2000 series chip.

If so the box should clearly indicate that otherwise it needs a previous generation chip to update the BIOS yes it supports it but not until that is done so they told the truth with leaving some information out the most important

Sure does, can you enter the bios if so ensure that your set to the correct GPU setting it should be set to the APU but I think its called something else not sure

Well then it should have the updated BIOS. I guess next step would be if the CPU 8-pin power cable is plugged in properly perhaps, you shuffled the RAM around so if that was the problem I would imagine it would have resolved itself there.

You shouldn't be able to, no, since the clip only goes on one side.

Was just wondering if maybe it wasn't fully seated in by chance.

  • 2 weeks later...

Update AMD gave me their CPU to update BIOS and it boots and everything works with that CPU.

  • updated to latest BIOS == nothing changed still doesn't boot with my 2200G
  • even bought new 2200G from Amazon that one too doesn't work

I think MB is broken but it works with old CPU
