G-SYNC monitor suggestion / discussion. Worth?

So, I have allocated to myself £250-300 to buy a new monitor. Ive been looking at G-Sync monitors but have seen conflicting trends towards both side for yay or nay for the technology.

Is it worth paying the extra money to get a monitor that has the module inside it or should i save some money and just got for a 144hz refresh rate monitor instead?

I have a GTX 1070 for those wanting to know about driving the monitor.

I have looked at the common cases like: ASUS, Acer, Dell, Benq.

Any suggestions would be great.

1440p 144 hz would be about 300 pounds

G sync would be about 70 pounds on top of that

I personally would pay for the extra g sync because tearing is really annoying to me. IDK about you though it might be up to your preference.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I like gsync but it is really useful at lower fps as that's when tearing is noticeable. At higher fps I could care less as I can't really notice it.

G-sync is a waste of money, at 144hz screen tearing is less noticeable.

You could set your monitor to like 100hz and enable fast-sync to get rid of screen tearing.

Just save money with a free-sync display most likely, it'll work fine as a monitor.

I think most people are in agreement that at lower fps it's useful but at higher it isn't. So the real question becomes are you going to have all your games running at high fps are or there some games where you would want the gsync for because it's an intense game and you are going to have lower fps? That is probably the determining factor.

for the most part high fps would mostly be better. ive encountered few games where fps is an issue. but its useful  to know its more beneficial at lower fps

yeah i can understand what you mean. at 1080p gsync hardly ever got used for me as I was running a 1080ti and it hits high fps sn basically everything but at 4k it is super useful because the fps is quite a bit lower. so i guess the bottom line is if its worth the extra cost for those few games that will benefit from gsync.
